A professional skills competition for youth with disabilities is underway in Uzbekistan

From April 21 to May 2, Uzbekistan is hosting the "Olympiad of Opportunities" – a competition where participants aged 14 to 18 showcase their professional skills, regardless of any physical disabilities

According to the National Agency for Social Protection of Uzbekistan, the event is organized by the Agency itself, the International Inclusive Hub at the Agency, and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation.

This is the first national competition of its kind.

Unlike traditional competitions, where participants are categorized by their diagnosis, the "Olympiad of Opportunities" fundamentally excludes any such distinctions. Here, all participants are treated equally. The focus is not on who you are, but on what you can do.

The competition covers 10 professional skills: embroidery, pottery, information and communication technologies, confectionery, mobile photography, drawing, dry construction work, carpentry, turning, and photography.

A total of 250 participants are demonstrating their skills in live competitions. The final round will take place on May 1-2 at the "Uzexpocentre" during the national trade fair "Inson Uchun".

To accommodate the competition, the fifth exhibition pavilion of "Uzexpocentre" has been fully equipped according to the event’s requirements. All work areas are adapted for each of the skills, ensuring comfortable and professional conditions for the participants.

The "Olympiad of Opportunities" is not just a competition, it represents an important step toward an inclusive future where everyone has equal opportunities for education, professional development, self-realization, and a dignified life.
