Abdulaziz Kamilov attends Ministerial Meeting on Afghanistan

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov took part in the Ministerial Meeting on Afghanistan via videoconference, Uzbekistan MFA reports.

The meeting, organized on the initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the German Federal Foreign Office, was attended by the foreign ministers of more than 20 countries, as well as representatives of the UN, the EU and NATO.

The current situation in Afghanistan, the issues of consolidating efforts to resolve the Afghan crisis and providing humanitarian assistance to the population of the country were discussed at the meeting.

The importance of the Taliban fulfilling its obligations to respect fundamental human rights and freedoms, in particular, ensuring the rights of women and national minorities, and preventing the activities of terrorist organizations on the territory of Afghanistan was noted.

In his speech, Uzbekistan’s FM focused on the need to develop a post-conflict strategy for Afghanistan, including the speedy recovery of its economy, the country’s involvement in the regional integration process, and the implementation of infrastructure projects.
