Abdulaziz Kamilov meets with Hungary's Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade

On February 18, 2020, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Péter Szijjártó, who arrived in Uzbekistan to attend the 5th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation and Uzbekistan –Hungarian business forum.

According to Uzbekistan MFA, issues of implementation of the agreements reached during a bilateral meeting between the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán were discussed at the meeting of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States in October 2019, in Baku.

The ministers confirmed the availability of wide opportunities for building up Uzbekistan – Hungarian interaction in political, trade, economic, investment, tourism, cultural and humanitarian fields, as well as in the formats “Uzbekistan – the European Union” and international organizations.

It was noted that introduction by Uzbekistan from February 1, 2019 of a visa-free regime up to 30 days for Hungarian citizens created favorable conditions for a significant increase in tourist trips.

The parties confirmed their interest in establishing cooperation between the leading higher education institutions of the two countries, including for improving the qualifications of their faculty, establishing scientific exchanges between the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan and the Institute for Nuclear Research of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

Views were exchanged on selected issues of the international agenda.

The Ambassador of Hungary Peter Santo attended the meeting.
