Abdulaziz Kamilov meets with the Assistant to the U.S. President for National Security Affairs

On July 17, 2019, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met with the Assistant to the U.S. President for National Security Affairs John Robert Bolton, in Washington.

The sides exchanged views on the state and prospects for further development of Uzbekistan – American relations.

John Robert Bolton welcomed the participation of such a representative delegation in the second Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom, in Washington.

The parties emphasized the mutual interest to move in line with implementation of the Joint Political Statement “Uzbekistan and the US: A new era of strategic partnership”, other joint agreements reached during the official visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the United States and negotiations with the President Donald Trump.

During the discussion of issues of cooperation in the Afghan area, the American side noted the important role of Uzbekistan in launching mechanisms for peaceful inter-Afghan dialogue, socio-economic rehabilitation of Afghanistan, and its involvement in multidimensional regional relations in Central Asia.

The parties agreed to continue regular contacts at various levels in order to identify new areas of cooperation.
