Abdulaziz Kamilov receives Japan's Ambassador

On July 2, 2019, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan Nobuaki Ito, who is completing his diplomatic mission in Uzbekistan.

According to Uzbekistan MFA, current aspects of Uzbekistan – Japan agenda were discussed during the conversation.

It was noted that Uzbekistan and Japan have achieved a high level of trust and mutual understanding, necessary mechanisms of bilateral cooperation have been created, and the sides are successfully cooperating in international arena.

During the three years of Ambassador’s activity in Uzbekistan, cooperation with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has significantly intensified, within the framework of which socially significant projects in energy, transport, telecommunications, healthcare and education are being implemented in Uzbekistan.

The sides are preparing for the 15th meeting of Uzbekistan – Japan and Japan – Uzbekistan committees on economic cooperation (Tokyo, July 10) and the 3rd conference of rectors of higher education institutions of the two countries (Tashkent, July 8-9).

These and other joint events, as it was noted, should become important stages of preparation for the upcoming visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Japan.

Other issues of mutual interest were also considered at the meeting.

Following the conversation, the Minister expressed gratitude to the Ambassador for his personal significant contribution to development of multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan.

Nobuaki Ito, in turn, thanked for assistance and support in his activities as Japan’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan.
