Abdulaziz Kamilov takes part in the International Conference on Belt and Road Cooperation

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov has taken part in an online Asia and Pacific High-level Conference on Belt and Road Cooperation.

According to Uzbekistan MFA, the heads of government and foreign affairs agencies of the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, Central and South Asia, representatives of international organizations also attended the forum.

Mr. Abdulaziz Kamilov noted the demand in the current situation for new proposals and initiatives to strengthen cooperation aimed at overcoming the consequences of the pandemic as soon as possible, restoring economic growth and achieving long-term sustainable socio-economic development.

The head of Uzbekistan MFA informed the participants about the systemic measures taken by the Government of Uzbekistan to counter the spread of coronavirus infection and improve the healthcare system, thanked foreign partners for close interaction and mutual support during the pandemic.

The Minister highlighted the importance of sustainable environmental development for the green economy. It was noted that the green recovery in Central Asia is closely related to solving the negative consequences of the drying up of the Aral Sea and improving the conditions and quality of life of the population of the Aral Sea region.

Following the conference, its participants reaffirmed their commitment to constructive interaction to achieve the goals of the UN Agenda for Sustainable Development for the period up to 2030.
