ACD Foreign Ministers discussed the current state and prospects for further development of cooperation in tourism

On January 21, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov attended the 17th Meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of Member States (CFM) of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) on “Safe and Healthy Tourism”, via videoconference, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

The report of the ACD Secretary-General Pornchai Danvivathana was heard. ACD’s procedural rules links with other organizations and subjects of international relations were approved and organizational issues were discussed at the event.

The heads of delegations discussed the current state and prospects for further development of cooperation in tourism. In particular, key aspects of developing new approaches to ensuring the safety and health of foreign tourists in the context of the coronavirus pandemic, and mechanisms for their practical implementation were discussed.

In his speech, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov noted the need for taking decisive action and join forces to move from responding to COVID-19 to actively preparing for the future recovery of the global economy, including stimulating tourism industry.

Uzbekistan’s FM informed participants about the comprehensive measures being implemented in Uzbekistan to fully support the tourism industry and expressed confidence that foreign tourists who will arrive in the country after the resumption of trips will see tourism in a new way: safer, more colorful, and more individual.

Special attention was paid to the issues of deepening regional integration in Asia. In this context, the importance of strengthening the connectivity between Central and South Asia was noted.

Following the event, the Ankara Declaration of the 17th ACD Foreign Ministers Council Meeting was adopted.
