Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan meets with the Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General

TASHKENT, July 27. Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov has met with the Deputy Special Representative (Political) for Afghanistan in the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) Markus Potzel

According to the Uzbekistan MFA, the parties considered the current state and prospects for the development of Uzbekistan’s interaction with the UN and its institutions, in particular with UNAMA.

Views were exchanged on the current situation in Afghanistan. Markus Potzel highly appreciated the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to hold an International Conference on Afghanistan, which is designed to contribute to the development of joint approaches of the world community on the provision of humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people and the restoration of the country’s economy.

It was noted that the current conference confirms the key, irreplaceable role of Uzbekistan in the Afghan settlement and testifies to the recognition by the world community of the real contribution of the Uzbek side to the socio-economic and infrastructural reconstruction of Afghanistan.
