Ambassador of Uzbekistan meets with Member of the European Parliament

Ambassador of Uzbekistan in Riga, Kadambay Sultanov, has held a virtual meeting with the Vice President of the European Parliament Heidi Hautala.

The Finnish Member of the European Parliament was informed about the large-scale reforms carried out under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The key provisions of the Address of the Head of the state to the Oliy Majlis, in which the priority of close cooperation with the European Union and Uzbekistan’s obtaining the status of a “GSP+” beneficiary, was highlighted. In this context, the importance of supporting the efforts of Uzbekistan was noted.

Heidi Hautala, in turn, noted that Helsinki and Brussels are watching with great interest the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and progress in ensuring the observance of the rights and freedoms of citizens and welcomed the desire of Tashkent to intensify all-round cooperation with the EU by obtaining status “GSP+”.
