Ambassador of Uzbekistan meets with the Minister of Agriculture of Latvia

On December 7, Ambassador of Uzbekistan Kadambay Sultanov has met with the Minister of Agriculture of Latvia Kaspars Gerhards, who is also the Co-Chairman of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Industrial, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

The parties exchanged views on prospects for further building up cooperation in trade and investment, transport and logistics, agriculture, higher and secondary special education, tourism, environment and regional development, information technologies and other areas of mutual interest.

The Minister emphasized the timeliness of holding an online expert meeting on December 9 to prepare for the meeting of Uzbekistan – Latvian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Industrial, Scientific and Technical Cooperation.

The Minister of Agriculture of Latvia welcomed the decision by the European Commission to grant Uzbekistan the status of a beneficiary of the Generalized System of Preferences plus “GSP +” and the subsequent transfer of this issue to the European Council and the European Parliament for consideration.

Kaspars Gerhards assured that Latvia will continue to support Uzbekistan in building up mutually beneficial trade and economic ties with the European Union.
