Chairman of the National Commission of Uzbekistan for UNESCO, Deputy Prime Minister Aziz Abdukhakimov appealed for the support of the “Bakhshi Art” nomination, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.
The sixteenth session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO is being held in virtual mode from the headquarters of the organization in Paris.
According to the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Uzbekistan, within the framework of the current session, the issue of including the “Bakhshi Art” element in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity will be considered. The Chairman of the National Commission of Uzbekistan for UNESCO appealed to the members of the Evaluation Commission and the member countries of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in support of this nomination, which was developed and submitted for consideration at the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan.
The event is attended by the leadership of UNESCO, representatives of the member countries of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, high-ranking delegates from more than 190 states. Uzbekistan is represented by a delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Aziz Abdukhakimov. The country’s delegation also includes the Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to UNESCO Umid Shadiyev and others.
It should be noted that the voting process for the “Bakhshi Art” nomination will take place on December 16, and the sixteenth session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage will continue until December 18, 2021.
