Chairperson of the Senate of Uzbekistan meets with the Chairman of the State Duma of Russia

On April 14, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva held talks with the Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of Russia Viacheslav Volodin, in Moscow, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to the upper house of parliament, the parties exchanged views on the state and prospects of Uzbekistan – Russia relations in the context of the development of inter-parliamentary ties, the results of transformations in Uzbekistan, positions on key issues in the development of cooperation.

The Chairperson of the Senate of Uzbekistan focused on the further development of inter-parliamentary cooperation, strengthening ties between regional parliaments, as well as specialized committees of the lower and upper chambers of parliaments. The development of a normative-legal framework aimed at ensuring the implementation of the agreements reached between the Presidents of Uzbekistan and Russia, creating decent conditions for our working and studying fellow citizens was also considered.

Mr. Viacheslav Volodin, highly appreciating the socio-economic and socio-political transformations being carried out in Uzbekistan, noted that Russia is ready to assist in their successful implementation.

The parties also considered issues of cooperation in the preparation of model laws on countering terrorism, combating drug trafficking and illegal migration, strengthening security, and drafting legislation ensuring digital sovereignty.
