Chairperson of the Senate Uzbekistan of addresses Generation Equality Forum

Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva addressed the Generation Equality Forum held on 29-31 March in Mexico, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to the Upper House of Parliament, the global forum participants were informed about the achievements of Uzbekistan in gender equality, women’s empowerment in state and public affairs, women’s employment, their social protection and measures taken during the pandemic.

Special attention was paid to the importance of further strengthening the efforts of each country in meeting the strategic goals and objectives defined by the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, which set out universal commitments to protect and promote women’s rights and interests.

Plenary and breakout sessions were organized to raise awareness of gender equality, including during the COVID-19 pandemic. In particular, the topics of public participation and the establishment of multi-stakeholder partnerships to achieve gender equality in the context of Agenda XXI and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as the implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action, were discussed.
