CIS Defense Ministers exchange views on the military-political situation in the world

Moscow hosted a meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers of the CIS member states.

Chairman of the Executive Committee – Executive Secretary of the CIS Sergey Lebedev noted that being the body of the Council of CIS Heads of State on military policy, military cooperation and military development, the Council of Defense Ministers and its working bodies are doing everything necessary to ensure the national security of each of the states and the Commonwealth as a whole.

In accordance with the agenda of the meeting, issues of developing multilateral cooperation in defense and security were considered.

The heads of the military agencies exchanged views on the military-political situation in the world and its impact on the security of the member states of the Commonwealth. Special attention was paid to the 30-year experience of cooperation in the CIS format and the prospects for its development.

The defense ministers decided to give the Russian Air Force Academy named after Professor N.E. Zhukovsky and Y.A. Gagarin the status of the basic organization of the CIS member states in training military personnel for the air force.

The heads of the defense agencies approved joint activities of the joint air defense system of the CIS member states in 2022, and decided to establish the medal “For the contribution to strengthening peace”.

The meeting participants approved the Work Plan of the Council of Defense Ministers of the CIS Member States for 2022 and adopted several decisions on financial and economic issues.
