On November 21, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with a presentation of proposals for the broad involvement of young people in sports.
Broad opportunities are being created for the younger generation as part of the Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy and the state program of the Year of Support for Youth and Business. More than 10 million people are involved in mass sports. Various competitions are held in all regions, in educational and work collectives.
The state program defines the tasks for further developing and popularizing team sports. Several measures have been developed in accordance with this.
For example, organizing competitions in team sports, such as the “Mahalla League” and the “School League”, is proposed. It is also envisaged to create sports clubs in state higher education institutions and hold competitions between them, such as the “Student League”, “Minister’s Cup”, and “Rector’s Cup”.
National leagues in team sports will be supported. Regional sports clubs will be created under local hokimiyats. Work will be organized to identify and select talented youth based on the electronic system ERP Sport.
Attention was paid to creating additional conditions for young people to participate in regular sports activities.
According to the proposal, every Thursday will be designated as Physical Culture and Sports Day. Depending on the number of young people involved and the results achieved, sports school employees will be paid bonuses. Also, considering the existing infrastructure, institutions will gradually specialize in certain sports.
The position of a trainer-selector for mass sports will be introduced in sports schools, to whom up to five mahallas and education institutions will be assigned. Trainers who organize clubs in mahallas will also be encouraged.
The President emphasized that the sports sector is an important area of state youth policy and expressed his opinion on expanding opportunities at the local level and raising the young generation as comprehensively developed individuals.
