Convenience and safety of traffic on the roads to be improved

The President got acquainted with the tunnel built at the intersection of Bustonsaroy and Rudaki streets in the city of Samarkand.

These streets are among the busiest in the city. The construction of the tunnel has increased traffic convenience and eliminated traffic jams. The tunnel is 120 meters long and almost 27 meters wide.

Roads for vehicles and trams, pedestrian and bicycle paths were laid along Rudaki Street. The surrounding area has been landscaped.

Information was provided on further plans to improve the road infrastructure of Samarkand.

“In recent years, Samarkand has been developing comprehensively. However, much remains to be carried out for the convenience and safety of traffic. And here the number of vehicles is growing every year. But the roads, traffic lights have not changed much. Therefore, it is advisable to organize a specialized scientific and practical center, which should study and implement foreign experience, develop proposals on where to expand and where to build roads, where to remove or install traffic lights”, the President said.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev also inspected the gallery-type bridge along Bustonsaroy Street, built near the tunnel.

Before this, the section of the street passing over the Siyob Canal was located low, which caused inconvenience to drivers and passengers when it rained. Therefore, this section is raised to a height of 23 meters and expanded to 31 meters. Protective barriers and acoustic screens have been installed on both sides of the road. There are walking and cycling paths.
