Cooperation towards sustainable development

The First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sodik Safoyev and the UN Resident Coordinator for the Republic of Uzbekistan Helena Fraser, within the framework of the recently signed Action Plan for development of cooperation with the UN and its specialized agencies, discussed issues of further development of partnership.

The Action Plan is aimed at deepening and strengthening partnership with UN structures at the national, regional and global levels in order to promote human development for all, especially for vulnerable and needy segments of society.

Achievements of national sustainable development goals, celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the United Nations were discussed at the meeting.

The Action Plan has been developed to bring cooperation to a new level, which includes 17 directions.

The plan also includes foreign policy initiatives of the Head of the state, proposals to ensure regional security and sustainability. At the same time, opinions were forwarded on ensuring and achieving economic sustainability in the current conditions. Implementation of new programs in social protection, healthcare and education is envisaged.

Helena Fraser expressed confidence in further development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UN on the basis of equality and mutually beneficial partnership. She noted her readiness to cooperate in the implementation of the Action Plan.
