On September 12-13, 2020, a two-day training workshop on conclusion of intergovernmental investment agreements has taken place in Tashkent region for employees of the Consular and Legal Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan with participation of national and foreign experts, Uzbekistan MFA reports.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, USAID Legal Reform Program and White and Case Law Firm.
Participants discussed the current approaches to protecting the state interests, studied the conclusion of investment promotion and protection agreements from the point of view of foreign practice, the experience of Uzbekistan and the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) in investment dispute resolution procedures.
The current state of practical implementation of provisions of the Laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On investments and investment activities” of December 25, 2019 and “On international treaties” of February 6, 2019 was also considered.
The practice of conducting trainings will contribute to the effective conduction of legal expertise on investment agreements under development.
