Yesterday, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sherzod Asadov held talks with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden with residence in Stockholm Ingrid Tersman, and Head of the Working Group of Sweden’s Chairmanship in the OSCE Ambassador Petra Lärke, reports IA “Dunyo” correspondent.

As the Press Service of the MFA informs, issues of further activation of Uzbekistan – Sweden multifaceted relations were discussed during the negotiations.

The importance of developing trade-economic and investment cooperation by strengthening long-term and mutually beneficial partnership with leading Swedish companies was noted.

The schedule of the upcoming events, in particular the second round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries, was considered.

The sides discussed practical aspects of granting Uzbekistan the status of a GSP+ beneficiary country, as well as early completion of negotiations on the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement.

Views were also exchanged on the issues of mutual interest on international and regional agenda.

Special attention was paid to intensification of cooperation within the framework of international organizations, including during Sweden’s Chairmanship in the OSCE in 2021.
