Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva met yesterday in St. Petersburg with Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalia Kochanova, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

According to the information service of the upper house of Parliament, during the negotiations, the parties discussed the effective continuation of the inter-parliamentary dialogue between the two countries.

The parties noted that the Memorandum of Cooperation between the upper houses of the parliaments of both countries, signed last year, has elevated relations to a higher level.

There was an exchange of views on the development and adoption of a plan for joint practical measures to implement the memorandum.

An agreement was reached to include in it issues such as improving the mechanism for joint monitoring of the implementation of agreements reached during high-level visits, exchanging experience in parliamentary activities, developing women’s entrepreneurship, enhancing the role of women in society, and strengthening the role of youth parliaments.

Tanzila Narbayeva extended an invitation to Natalia Kochanova to visit Uzbekistan on an official visit.
