The Ambassador of Uzbekistan Mansurbek Kilichev, held a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt for Parliamentary Affairs, Heiba Zaki, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.
During the dialogue, the parties discussed issues related to strengthening and enhancing inter-parliamentary cooperation between Uzbekistan and Egypt.
Egyptian side confirmed the participation of a delegation led by Speaker of the House of Representatives Hanafi Gibali, in the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which will be held in Tashkent from April 5 to 9, 2025.
The parties emphasized that close inter-parliamentary relations have been established between the two countries, with regular exchanges of delegations and dialogues. In particular, in November 2022, the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Tanzila Norboyeva, visited Egypt, followed by the visit of the Chairperson of the Senate Committee, Malika Kodirkhonova, in December 2023.
In turn, visits of Egyptian parliamentary leaders and representatives to Uzbekistan have also been organized. The Deputy Speaker of the Senate of Egypt, Phoebe Fawzy, participated in the Asian Women’s Forum, held in Samarkand on May 13–14, 2024.
On May 30–31, 2024, the Speaker of the Senate of Egypt, Abdel Wahab Abdel Razek, paid his first official visit to Uzbekistan and was received by the Head of State. During the visit, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Senates of the parliaments of both countries.
From June 3 to 5, 2024, the first Egyptian business mission, consisting of senators, representatives of major leading companies, and entrepreneurs, visited Uzbekistan.
Egyptian parliament deputies and senators participated as international observers in the nationwide referendum and parliamentary elections held in Uzbekistan in April 2023 and October 2024.
It is worth noting that inter-parliamentary friendship groups have been established in the Senate and Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, as well as in the House of Representatives and Senate of the Egyptian Parliament.
