Embassy of Uzbekistan in Hungary hosts celebration for International Women's Day with fellow countrywomen

The Embassy of Uzbekistan in Hungary hosted a festive event in honor of International Women’s Day, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The event was attended by fellow countrywomen living and studying in Hungary. In their greetings, the diplomats emphasized the important role of women in society, highlighting their strength, wisdom, and invaluable contributions to the country’s development. It was noted that, on the eve of the holiday, President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, congratulated all the women of the country, expressing deep respect and gratitude.

Special attention was given to the measures being taken in Uzbekistan to support women. In particular, it was highlighted that in recent years, ensuring women’s rights and elevating their status have become key priorities of state policy. Today, the share of women in government has reached 35%, in the Senate – 27%, and in the Legislative Chamber – 38%.

The festive atmosphere was enhanced by the sounds of traditional Uzbek music. Guests were also shown the feature film "Oʻzbek qizi" (2023), which celebrates the courage of Uzbek women during World War II. The film, showcasing the strength and heroism of Uzbek women, has received international recognition.

The celebration continued at a dastarkhan (traditional table) featuring pilaf and other dishes from Uzbek national cuisine. In a warm and friendly atmosphere, under the melodies of their homeland, the participants shared their impressions and discussed the significance of the day. The spring spirit, joy, and sense of unity made the evening truly special.

The guests expressed their gratitude to the Embassy for the warm welcome and for creating an atmosphere filled with care and respect for their fellow countrywomen.
