EU, Uzbekistan launch a multi-annual indicative programme to enhance cooperation

Yesterday, Tashkent hosted a conference to launch a new multi-annual indicative programme of the European Union for Uzbekistan, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov and EU Commissioner for International Partnerships Jutta Urpilainen addressed the event.

The event was also attended by Deputy Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Badriddin Abidov, EU Ambassador Charlotte Adrian, representatives of ministries and agencies of Uzbekistan, diplomatic missions of EU countries and international organizations.

At the event, key areas of further financial and technical cooperation with the European Commission were discussed within the framework of the next program cycle for 2021-2027.

The European side noted that within the framework of the new indicative program, 83 million euros will be allocated at the initial stage for 2021-2024, including 76 million euros for jointly developed projects and programs of technical assistance and budget support. As well as, 7 million euros to support activities for the development of civil society and human rights.

The parties considered the implementation of projects and activities in the areas of support for agriculture and green growth, improving the efficiency of public administration and digitalization, including judicial and transport-logistics systems, improving the investment climate, as well as the socio-economic development of the Aral Sea region.
