First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan Sodik Safoyev has held a virtual meeting with the Founder Director of the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies Farhan Ahmad Nizami, reports IA “Dunyo” correspondent.

According to the Senate of Uzbekistan, the parties discussed issues of interaction with the Oxford Centre in science, education and healthcare. In particular, the prospects for the development of cooperation within the framework of activities of Imam Maturidi International Research Center were considered.

Farhan Nizami welcomed the process of political and economic modernization of Uzbekistan. He highly appreciated the humanistic views and policies of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the large-scale work carried out in the country to study and preserve the heritage of the great thinkers of the Islamic world, to actively promote the ideas of enlightened Islam in the international arena. The significant role of Uzbekistan as a regional center for conducting scientific research and a deeper study of the Islamic heritage was emphasized.
