First Deputy Chairman of the Senate meets with the Ambassador of India

First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Head of the Inter-Parliamentary Group of the upper house of Uzbekistan Parliament on Cooperation with Rajya Sabha (Upper House) of the Parliament of India Sodik Safoyev has met with the Ambassador of India Manish Prabhat.

According to the Senate, the parties noted that in recent years, bilateral cooperation has been raised to a qualitatively new level. The visits of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to India in 2018-2019 have created a solid foundation for large-scale cooperation.

The situation related to the pandemic and measures taken in both countries was discussed at the meeting. It was emphasized that timely steps contribute to minimizing the COVID-19 consequences. The Indian side noted that Uzbekistan population showed a high level of discipline and responsibility during the pandemic, and the efforts of the country’s government are bringing good results.

Bilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation was also considered.

It was proposed to establish close cooperation on the personnel exchange program, in particular to increase the potential of parliamentarians and staff of the both chambers.
