First Deputy Chairman of the Senate meets with the Special Representative of the French Foreign Ministry

First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Sodik Safoyev, has met with the French Foreign Ministry’s Special Representative for Economic Diplomacy in Central Asia, Pascal Loro, via videoconference.

According to the upper chamber of the Parliament, at the meeting, views were exchanged on the state and prospects for the development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and France, opportunities for enhancing political dialogue and inter-parliamentary ties, strengthening trade, economic, investment and financial cooperation.

The parties discussed the activities of the inter-parliamentary friendship group “France – Central Asia”, economic development, interaction at the international level.

Pascal Loro highly appreciated the ongoing reforms, the results achieved in the economy and other areas, as well as the confident steps of Uzbekistan towards the modernization of the country.

The progress and prospects of the implementation of 17 projects in Uzbekistan in energy, agricultural modernization, infrastructure improvement and others, worth 3.5 billion euros, were discussed in detail.

It was noted that economic cooperation with France will contribute to the modernization of Uzbekistan’s economy and the development of its industries.

The parties also exchanged views on international and regional issues affecting the interests of the parties.
