Flowers laid at the monument of Alisher Navoi in Baku

The Embassy of Uzbekistan organized a ceremony in Baku to commemorate the 584th anniversary of the birth of the great thinker, poet and statesman Alisher Navoi, with flowers being laid at his monument, reports Dunyo IA correspondent.

The ceremony was attended by Eldar Ibrahimov, Head of the Milli Majlis Working Group on Interparliamentary Relations with Uzbekistan, Gunay Efendiyeva, a deputy of the Milli Majlis, and Isa Habibbayli, Deputy Chairwoman of the Milli Majlis Committee on Culture and President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, along with scholars, literary experts, the leadership and students of School No. 53 in Baku, and other fellow compatriots.

Ambassador of Uzbekistan Bahrom Ashrafkhanov, along with the deputies and scholars who spoke at the ceremony, emphasized the significance of Alisher Navoi’s literary legacy in global culture and the deep reverence the Azerbaijani people have for his work. It was noted that the monument to the poet in Baku stands as a vivid symbol of the strong brotherly ties between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan. Excerpts from the works of the classic poet were also recited during the event.
