Honorary Consulate of Uzbekistan opened in Nagoya, Japan

In order to develop friendly relations between the regions of Uzbekistan and Japan, expand bilateral economic, cultural, humanitarian, and tourist ties, provide comprehensive support to our citizens living in Aichi Prefecture, an Honorary Consulate of Uzbekistan has been opened in the city of Nagoya, reports a "Dunyo" information agency correspondent.

At the opening ceremony, held on September 19, Hiroyuki Ito, consultant of the "IM Corporation", consultant of the Nagoya-Uzbekistan Friendship Association, was announced as the honorary consul of Uzbekistan in Nagoya, and was solemnly awarded the corresponding consular patent.

Representatives of the Japanese parliament, the Nagoya-Uzbekistan Parliamentary League, the parliament and administration of the city of Nagoya, the Japan Science and Technology Agency and other organizations spoke at the opening ceremony.

The speeches noted that the newly created Honorary Consulate is one of the fruitful results of the visit of the head of our state Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the city of Nagoya in December 2019, the development of friendly relations between Uzbekistan, the city of Nagoya and Aichi Prefecture and plays an important role in protecting the rights of our compatriots studying and working in this region of Japan.

It was emphasized that bilateral economic, trade, cultural, scientific and technical cooperation contributes to the deepening of migration and consular relations, the development of cooperation in the field of public diplomacy, and the expansion of friendship between the peoples of the two countries.

Chairman of the Committee on Legislative and Legal Affairs of the Lower House of the Japanese Parliament, Tadahiko Ito, expressed great satisfaction with the opening of the Honorary Consulate of Uzbekistan in the city of Nagoya, where he lives. He noted that the visit of the President of Uzbekistan in 2019 to Nagoya University and the awarding of the title of Honorary Doctor of this university to him is a guarantee of the development of bilateral educational, economic and cultural ties.

The Japanese parliamentarian said that, together with the Honorary Consulate, he will provide practical support for the restoration of the Nagoya-Tashkent flight and the development of charter flights in order to attract Japanese tourists to Uzbekistan and create convenience for more than 500 of our compatriots living in Aichi Prefecture.

Member of the lower house of the Japanese Parliament, member of the Japan-Uzbekistan Parliamentary League, former Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Yasumasa Nagasaka expressed great satisfaction with the opening of the Honorary Consulate of Uzbekistan in Nagoya and full support for its activities in order to develop interregional cooperation and friendly relations with our country. He emphasized that he would help the Japanese parliament and government support the development of strategic cooperation with Uzbekistan.
Nagoya Mayor Takashi Kawamura shared warm memories of his meeting with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in December 2019. Noting the active development of friendly relations with Uzbekistan, the strengthening of friendly ties between the peoples of the two countries, in particular, the established exchange of delegations, economic and cultural missions, schoolchildren and artists, he emphasized that in the future, together with the Honorary Consulate, everything will be done to expand bilateral cooperation .
Recall that at present there are about 40 honorary consulates of Uzbekistan in various foreign countries.
