On June 16, 2019, in Geneva, a delegation of Uzbekistan led by Deputy Prime Minister, Chairperson of the Women’s Committee Tanzila Narbaeva, including the Minister of Employment and Labor Relations Sherzod Kudbiev, Chairperson of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Adham Ikramov, Deputy Chairperson of the Federation Council of Trade Unions Bakhtiyor Makhmadaliev and other government officials met with the Director General of the International Labor Organization (ILO) Guy Ryder.
According to the press service of the MFA, the parties during the meeting discussed the current state of bilateral cooperation and prospects for its development.
Guy Ryder was presented a congratulatory message from the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the occasion of the organization’s 100th anniversary.
Noting the results of his visit to Uzbekistan last December, the ILO Director General emphasized that the meeting held in Tashkent with the President of Uzbekistan and the agreements reached at the highest level made it possible to significantly raise the mutual relations of the parties to a qualitatively new level.
The ILO leader welcomed the ratification by Uzbekistan this year of Convention No. 144 on tripartite consultations to promote the application of international labor standards and the Additional Protocol to Convention No. 29 on forced labor. The readiness of the ILO Secretariat to assist in the practical implementation of these documents was expressed.
The delegation of Uzbekistan is taking part in the anniversary session of the ILO Conference.
