President of Uzbekistan received the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation
On August 23, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Igor Shuvalov, who is in our country on a working visit.
The head of our state warmly welcomed the guest and sincerely congratulated I.Shuvalov on the appointment as a chairman of the Russian part of the joint Intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation.
The important role of this commission was particularly noted in ensuring full-scale implementation of the agreements reached during the state visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Russian Federation on April 4-5, 2017, as well as the effective promotion of new programs and projects of mutually beneficial cooperation in various sectors of the economy.
It was emphasized that dynamic development of bilateral relations is being observed.
The volume of mutual trade is steadily growing: in the first seven months of this year, the trade turnover has increased by 14 percent and exceeded 2,6 billion US dollars. At the same time, growth is observed in all major export and import positions. Since July, the “green corridor” for the supply of Uzbek fruit and vegetable products to the Russian market has begun its full-fledged activity.
Joint work is being conducted on implementation of priority investment projects with involvement of the leading Russian companies and banks.
Among them, there are major projects in the oil and gas complex on conducting geological exploration and development of promising fields with increasing hydrocarbon production, construction of Kandym gas processing and Djizzak refineries, modernization of the industry, as well as in the sphere of supplying gas and oil.
Implementation of projects on development of Yoshlik-1 field with the construction of a copper-concentrating complex and a metallurgical plant in Tashkent has begun in the sphere of metallurgy.
Cooperation in machine-building, automotive, electrical, chemical, pharmaceutical, textile, food industries, tourism and many other areas is expanding, including at the level of the regions of the two countries with active involvement of small businesses.
In general, today there are about 1 thousand enterprises with participation of Russian capital in Uzbekistan. Representative offices of 60 Russian companies are accredited in our country.
Humanitarian relations continue to develop, joint projects are being implemented in the spheres of healthcare, education, sports, culture and art.
During the meeting, issues of further development of practical cooperation between the two countries, as well as accelerating implementation of investment projects and preparing new promising programs in high-tech industries were considered in detail.
The guest expressed sincere gratitude to the head of our state Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the warm welcome and conveyed the greetings and best wishes of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and the Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
The First Deputy Prime Minister confirmed the readiness of the Russian Federation to develop and strengthen full-scale cooperation with the Republic of Uzbekistan in the spirit of strategic partnership and alliance.

OFFICIAL VISIT OF THE MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF UZBEKISTAN TO INDIA

Abdulaziz Kamilov and Vice-President of India held talks
Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov and Vice President of India Venkaiah Naidu held a meeting in Delhi.
The meeting was held within the framework of the official visit of the Uzbek delegation headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov to India.
Venkaiah Naidu noted that Uzbekistan and India should increase mutual trade up to US$1 billion by March 2018.
He noted that Uzbekistan and India have close cultural and historical ties. He expressed his satisfaction with the fact that a number of cultural events dedicated to the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries were held in Uzbekistan.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov, in his turn, expressed hope that this visit of the Uzbek delegation to India will help to identify new areas of cooperation and will bring relations between the countries to a new level.

On 22 August, Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met with his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj in Delhi.
The parties exchanged views on the Uzbek-Indian agenda, prospects for development of political, investment, trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian and other spheres.
The ministers confirmed mutual interest in interaction within the SCO.
Abdulaziz Kamilov invited Sushma Swaraj to the international conference, set to be held in November this year in Samarkand under the auspices of the UN.

Uzbek FM meets with Advisor to Prime Minister of India
Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov held a meeting with Advisor to the Prime Minister of the Republic of India on National Security, Ajit Kumar Doval.
The meeting was held on 22 August within the framework of the official visit of the Uzbek delegation headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov to India.
During the meeting, the sides discussed topical issues of cooperation between Uzbekistan and India.
The sides noted the positive dynamics of the Uzbek-Indian dialogue aimed at further developing relations in all areas of mutual interest.
The sides also exchanged views on situation in the region, including changes in the situation in Afghanistan and other international problems.

Uzbekistan: More Than 32 Million
As of July 1, the population of Uzbekistan was 32.345 million people, having increased by 224.5 thousand since the end of 2016 or by 0.7%. The urban population totals 16.353 million (50.6% of the total population), and the rural population - 15.9 million (49.4%). Preliminary data are published by the press-service of the State Statistics Committee.
In the first six months of 2017, a total of 311.9 thousand children were born, which is 6 thousand less than in the corresponding period of 2016. The birth rate was 19.5 per thousand.
The most significant decline in the birth rate observed in Tashkent, Kashkadarya, Ferghana, Khorezm, Jizzakh, Namangan, Bukhara, Samarkand regions and Karakalpakstan.
The number of deaths for January - June was amounted to 78.8 thousand people, compared with the corresponding period in 2016 increased by 4.9 thousand. The mortality rate was 4.9 per mille (in January - June 2016 - 4.7 per mille).The mortality rate significantly increased in Andijan, Jizzakh, Kashkadarya, Namangan, Surkhandarya, Ferghana, Khorezm and Karakalpakstan. The decline of the mortality rate was observed in Tashkent, and its lowest level was registered in Kashkadarya, Bukhara, Jizzakh and Samarkand regions.
62.1% of total mortality is cardiovascular diseases is, 8.8% - neoplasms, 5.5% - digestive diseases, 5.4% - accidents, poisoning, trauma, 5.1% - respiratory diseases, 1.7% from infectious and parasitic diseases, 11.4% from other diseases.
