Inter-MFA Political Consultations between Uzbekistan and Germany

On December 1, 2020, the 16th Round of Political Consultations took place between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Federal Republic of Germany, via videoconference, Uzbekistan MFA reports.

The delegations were led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sherzod Asadov and German Foreign Ministry Commissioner for Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia, Michael Siebert.

The sides discussed the state and prospects for enhancing bilateral multifaceted cooperation, as well as the schedule and organizational aspects of the upcoming joint events.

Special attention was paid to cooperation in trade-economic, financial-technical and investment spheres. The progress in implementing the agreements reached as a result of mutual high-level visits in 2019 was analyzed in detail.

The importance of continuing joint work on the draft Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement with EU and obtaining beneficiary status for Uzbekistan under the Generalized System of Preferences Plus (GSP+) was emphasized.

Regional and international issues were also discussed during the negotiations.
