International Conference “Markaziy Osiyo Chang” in Nukus

Karakalpak State University named after Berdakh is hosting the International Conference “Markaziy Osiyo Chang”, which is dedicated to the problem of preserving the environment in the dried-up area of the Aral Sea.

Representatives from Uzbekistan and about 80 countries are taking part in it.

The conference’s primary goal is to draw the world scientific community’s attention to the environmental situation in the Aral Sea region.

Deputy Chairman of the Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan R. Saparbayev and others spoke about the work carried out jointly with foreign organizations and scientists to solve environmental problems of the Aral Sea region related to water, land, air pollution, ecosystem, and human health.

At the initiative of the Head of state, large-scale measures are being implemented to mitigate the consequences of the Aral disaster and improve the living conditions of residents of the region.

The need for a comprehensive consideration of the influence of climatic factors on the avifauna of anthropogenic landscapes of the Southern Aral Sea region was noted.

The event participants got acquainted with the conditions created at Karakalpak State University for training students and masters, as well as the research work carried out by professors and students.

The “Markaziy Osiyo Chang” International Conference will last until April 22.
