Introduction of international standards to facilitate the export of Uzbekistan agricultural products

On June 2, a webinar on implementation of GLOBALG.A.P. standards in Uzbekistan, organized by Uzstandard Agency jointly with the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Latvia, was held.

The President and CEO of GLOBALG.A.P. Kristian Moeller, the regional coordinator of this organization Edite Strazdina, the Director General of Uzstandard Agency Dilshod Sattarov, as well as heads of more than 50 farms interested in exporting their products to international markets took part in the event via videoconference.

Issues of supporting local manufacturers and farms in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic were discussed at the meeting. Views were exchanged on prospects for enhancing partnership and the specifics of assistance in increasing the number of GLOBALG.A.P. certificate holders.

At the videoconference, special attention was paid to training personnel in foreign higher education institutions, intensification of the exchange of experience, creation of modern integrated testing laboratories, as well as supporting local manufacturers, which will make it possible to introduce GLOBALG.A.P. standards in the country.
