On July 6, 2020, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev attended a virtual conference on Afghanistan “Strengthening the consensus for peace”, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, Uzbekistan MFA reports.
The event was attended by the President of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, as well as representatives of member countries of Heart of Asia – Istanbul Process and Kabul Process formats for Afghanistan.
International efforts to resolve the Afghan crisis, as well as early launching of inter-Afghan peace talks were discussed at the event.
The parties noted the key importance of consolidation of efforts of the international community on the issue of post-conflict rebuilding of Afghanistan, economic recovery of the country and observance of the principle of leading role of Afghan people in the political process in the country.
Views were exchanged on the priority areas for providing full assistance to Afghanistan.
