Meeting with IOM Sub-Regional Coordinator for Central Asia

On December 13, 2021, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Gayrat Fozilov met with the Sub-Regional Coordinator of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for Central Asia, the newly-appointed head of the IOM Representative Office in Tashkent, Zeynal Hajiyev, Uzbekistan MFA reports.

As it was noted, the interaction between Uzbekistan and the IOM is consistently developing, a vivid example of which is the opening of a full-fledged IOM office in Uzbekistan in April 2021.

Deputy Foreign Minister informed in detail about the measures taken by the leadership of Uzbekistan to provide social, legal and material support to citizens of Uzbekistan working abroad, improving their living conditions. It was emphasized that Uzbekistan attaches great importance to migration issues, both at the national and international levels.

The parties exchanged views on deepening cooperation through the implementation of joint regional and national projects, including within the framework of the Plan of practical measures to enhance cooperation between Uzbekistan and the IOM for 2021-2023.

Other issues of the common agenda were also discussed during the talks.
