Meeting with Permanent Representative of Ireland to the UN

On July 23, 2019, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Dilshod Akhatov met with Permanent Representative of Ireland to the United Nations David Donoghue.

According to Uzbekistan MFA, a wide range of issues both on bilateral agenda and on interaction between the two countries within the framework of international structures was discussed at the meeting.

The similarity of positions of Uzbekistan and Ireland on most pressing international problems was emphasized, which, according to the parties, is a good basis for further intensifying relations in all areas of mutual interest.

At the meeting, specific proposals for enhancing Uzbekistan – Ireland cooperation were considered. In particular, the importance was noted for holding regular inter-MFA political consultations, which would allow analyzing the state of bilateral relations and outline prospects for their further development, exchanging views on key international and regional themes.

The parties also considered the priorities of interaction in “Uzbekistan – European Union” format.

The Irish side was invited to the International Investment Forum, scheduled for next spring in Tashkent, as well as international festivals “Sharq Taronalari” in August this year in Samarkand and applied folk arts in September, in Kokand.
