Meeting with the Ambassador of Brazil

On 20 June 2022, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Brazil (with residence in Moscow) in Uzbekistan Rodrigo de Lima Baena Soares, Uzbekistan MFA reports.

Accepting the credentials of the Ambassador, Vladimir Norov congratulated him on his appointment to a high responsible post and wished him successful work.

In turn, Rodrigo de Lima Baena Soares praised the course of transformation being implemented in Uzbekistan, emphasizing the readiness of the Brazilian Government to comprehensively develop cooperation with Uzbekistan, which is considered as a key state in the region.

The importance of intensifying the political dialogue was noted, including through inter-MFA consultations, increasing contacts between the parliaments of the two countries, strengthening coordination within the UN, the Organization of American States, as well as on the BRICS+ platform, expanding the contractual and legal framework of interaction.

To enhance trade-economic ties, the parties agreed to study the establishment of an Intergovernmental Commission on trade-economic and scientific-technical cooperation, the opening of trading houses on a reciprocal basis, and the organization of a trip to Uzbekistan by representatives of the Brazilian business community. The main attention was paid to the establishment of supplies to the Brazilian market of goods from Uzbekistan, including chemical fertilizers, textile, agricultural products and others.

In the cultural-humanitarian exchanges, proposals were considered for holding thematic days of culture of Uzbekistan and Brazil, establishing twinning ties between the cities of the two countries, launching a partnership of educational and scientific institutions in the personnel training in various areas.

The Ambassador also informed about the interest of Brazilian film companies and artists to take part in the next Tashkent International Film Festival “Pearl of the Silk Road”.
