Meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia Saifuddin Abdullah received Ambassador of Uzbekistan Ravshan Usmanov.

During the conversation, the results of bilateral cooperation in 2019 were summed up, as well as prospects for its further development were discussed.

Special attention at the meeting was paid to issues of expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation.

In January-November 2019, the trade turnover amounted to 106 million USD with an increase of 50% compared to the same period of 2018.

The tourism sector has been identified as one of the priority areas for development of cooperation. In 2019, the number of tourists from Malaysia visiting Uzbekistan amounted to 4388 people, which is almost 60% more compared to 2018.

The parties confirmed their commitment to continue a productive partnership in education, including through the opening of branches of Malaysian universities in Uzbekistan.
