The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov has met with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ebrahim Raisi in Tehran, Uzbekistan MFA reports.
The President of Iran conveyed sincere congratulations to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on his election to the post of the Head of State and best wishes for health and further success.
Ebrahim Raisi emphasized the role of the President of Uzbekistan in the development and deepening of Uzbekistan – Iran relations.
A wide range of different areas of cooperation, in particular, in security, trade-economic cooperation was discussed.
The main attention was paid to the current situation in Afghanistan and the prospects for its development.
The parties agreed on the importance of providing humanitarian assistance to the fraternal Afghan people as soon as possible to prevent a deep food crisis in the country.
The Iranian President highly appreciated Uzbekistan’s efforts to resolve the Afghan problem peacefully, advance the political process, and provide the Afghan people with the necessary humanitarian assistance.
