Meeting with the U.S. delegation

On June 30, 2020, Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov met with the U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad and the First Chief Executive Officer of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) Adam Boehler, Uzbekistan MFA reports.

The parties noted with satisfaction the establishment of close political contacts and strengthening trade-economic, cultural-humanitarian and military-technical relations.

At the meeting, special attention was paid to expanding cooperation between the two countries in the Afghan direction. In this context, it was noted that the first meeting of trilateral format of interaction “Uzbekistan – USA – Afghanistan” held on May 27 confirmed the importance of this mechanism for developing practical proposals for restoration of IRA and its active involvement in the regional economic process.

Views were also exchanged on attracting DFC funds to finance a number of projects contributing to expansion of economic and transport-communication relations between Afghanistan and the region’s countries.

Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed at the meeting.
