On September 19, 2019, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov received the Special Envoy of the UN Secretary General for Road Safety Jean Todt.
Welcoming the guest, the Minister praised his activities as the first Envoy of the UN Secretary General on Road Safety and efforts to support a global partnership in this direction.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, at the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for cooperation in such important areas as creation of a sustainable transport infrastructure, improving legislation in road safety.
In this context, the Uzbek side supported the creation of the UN Trust Fund, aimed at mobilizing funding and implementing projects in road traffic, and expressed interest in practical cooperation through the Fund.
