OSCE workshop was held on the issues of security sector governance and parliamentary oversight in this sphere.
The event was organized by the OSCE Conflict Prevention Center for members of the Senate and deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.
It was noted that a security sector that is accountable, inclusive and respects the rule of law can effectively ensure the stability of the state. The principle that this sphere, like any other public sector, is subject to democratic control, has been confirmed by the OSCE in various documents.
The possibilities of using the functions of the parliament in this sphere were discussed at the event. Issues related to the protection of human rights, ensuring gender equality and the effective use of parliamentary instruments in security were also considered.
