MIFT hosts a meeting with the Executive Director of Operations of the French Development Agency

Deputy Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Shukhrat Vafayev held talks with a delegation from the French Development Agency (AFD) led by Executive Director for Operations Jean-Pierre Marcelli to discuss the current state and prospects of cooperation.

According to Uzbekistan MIFT, Mr. Jean-Pierre Marcelli highly appreciated the large-scale reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan and expressed the readiness of the AFD to continue to enhance financial, investment and advisory support to the process of economic transformation in Uzbekistan.

The parties discussed the progress in the implementation of joint investment projects and noted with satisfaction the signing of a new partnership program with Uzbekistan for 2021-2025. The program provides for the financing of 12 new projects worth more than 1.2 billion euros.

At the meeting, cooperation in housing and communal services, ecology and the private sector was also discussed.

The parties outlined joint goals to enhance cooperation in financing small and medium-sized businesses.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to sign a loan agreement with AFD to finance the project “Inclusive and climate investments in the livestock sector” with the attraction of concessional long-term funds from the French side for 100 million euros.
