Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan has attended the International Conference on Afghanistan in Geneva

On November 24, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov has attended the International Conference on Afghanistan in Geneva, via videoconference, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

The event was organized by the governments of the Republic of Finland and the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, as well as with the assistance of the UN. The conference was attended by representatives of more than 100 countries, international and regional organizations, civil society and media.

It was noted that Uzbekistan provides assistance to Afghanistan in the electricity supply, construction of transport infrastructure, and training highly qualified personnel.

Special attention was paid to issues of interaction against the spread of coronavirus infection, as well as overcoming its consequences. It was stated that in the context of the pandemic, Uzbekistan sent a number of caravans of humanitarian aid with basic necessities, food and medical supplies to Afghan people.

The participants highly appreciated Uzbekistan’s activities on promoting the peace process and helping restore the economy of Afghanistan.
