Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan hold talks at U.S. International Development Finance Corporation

On November 18, 2020, Uzbekistan delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov met with Chief Executive Officer of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation, Adam Boehler, in Washington, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan, the sides discussed the implementation of agreements reached during the visit of Adam Boehler to Uzbekistan on June 29-July 1 and outlined the prospects for further deepening bilateral partnership in attracting foreign direct investment and the latest technologies in development of industries, services and infrastructure.

It was noted that Uzbekistan is interested in implementing projects with participation of DFC in development of oil and gas, energy, chemical, transport, construction, banking, pharmaceutical and other sectors of Uzbekistan’s economy. In this context, the Head of the American Corporation confirmed his interest in creating a Central Asian Investment Fund aimed at promoting major infrastructure projects.

The improvement of infrastructure and socio-economic reconstruction of Afghanistan is an important promising area of cooperation between Uzbekistan and DFC. In this context, the parties noted the need for strengthening dialogue within the framework of C5+1 platform and trilateral Uzbekistan – Afghanistan – USA cooperation format launched in May this year.

Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed during the negotiations.
