Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan meets with OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Sweden's Foreign Minister

Yesterday, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met with the Chairperson-in-Office for the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, Sweden’s Foreign Minister, Ann Christin Linde, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

According to the Uzbekistan MFA, current issues of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the OSCE, as well as the state and prospects for the development of Uzbekistan – Sweden relations were discussed at the meeting.

Uzbekistan’s FM gave detailed information about the cardinal reforms carried out in Uzbekistan in all spheres of life, the main directions of the country’s foreign policy.

It was noted that Uzbekistan considers the OSCE as a unique international platform for political dialogue on a wide range of issues and supports the priorities of Sweden’s chairmanship in the Organization in all three dimensions of security.

Views were exchanged on deepening cooperation in the Afghan direction.

Special attention was paid to the issues of enhancing trade-economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Sweden, including increasing the trade turnover and implementing investment projects. In this context, the need for establishing an Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation was noted.

The parties confirmed their mutual interest in strengthening the inter-parliamentary dialogue, organizing mutual visits of parliamentary delegations, and exchanging experience in norm-setting activities.

Some regional and international issues were also considered during the talks.
