Negotiations held in the spirit of mutual readiness to jointly solve large-scale tasks

Yesterday, at the meeting with media representatives, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted with satisfaction that the negotiations were held in a special, trusting atmosphere, filled with the spirit of mutual readiness to jointly solve large-scale tasks based on mutual respect and consideration of each other’s interests, reports “Dunyo” IA correspondent.

“We touched upon the entire range of bilateral issues of mutual interest. At the same time, priority attention was paid to enhancing trade-economic cooperation. We agreed to take measures to further increase the volume of mutual trade. For these purposes, favorable conditions will be created for the activation of business contacts, new cooperation projects will be implemented in the trade, industry, agriculture, transport, and infrastructure worth more than $900 million. All of them were included in the newly adopted roadmap. I am sure that the creation of a Joint Investment Fund will serve to promote these projects.

Issues of enhancing interregional cooperation, which is certainly a key factor in partnership, were also discussed. We agreed to hold regular meetings of hokims of the border regions, specific projects and events.

The development of reliable and efficient transport corridors is crucial for the economies of the two countries. First of all, we are talking about Uzbekistan – Kyrgyzstan – China railway line, as well as Tashkent – Andijan – Osh – Irkeshtam – Kashgar multimodal corridor. We agreed to take coordinated measures to promote these routes”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted.

The heads of state confirmed the need for strengthening collaboration, primarily in trade and customs, investment, industrial cooperation, transport, water use, energy, ecology, cooperation between the defense departments, the fight against terrorism and religious extremism, and the expansion of cultural-humanitarian exchange.

President Sadyr Zhaparov expressed satisfaction with the results of the talks, during which the sides exchanged views on a wide range of issues.

“Uzbekistan is one of the key trading partners of Kyrgyzstan. To activate the entire complex of cooperation, it was planned to hold meetings of inter-parliamentary and intergovernmental commissions, meetings of hokims and heads of administrations of border regions as soon as possible. We agreed to create favorable conditions for business representatives, increase the trade turnover”, the President of Kyrgyzstan said.

The Heads of state also emphasized their mutual desire to give a new dynamic to the development of cultural-humanitarian ties. Currently, about 300 thousand citizens of Kyrgyz nationality live in Uzbekistan. They have all conditions and opportunities for the preservation and development of their native language, culture and customs.

To strengthen the friendship, the parties agreed to organize culture and film days, youth forums, festivals and exhibitions. It is planned to annually allocate grants for training talented young people of Kyrgyzstan in priority areas in the leading higher education institutions of Uzbekistan.

The state visit of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov to Uzbekistan continues.
