New plant to be launched in Tashkent

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev will take part in the opening ceremony of Tashkent Metallurgical Plant in Yangikhayot district.

The giant enterprise is of great importance for Uzbekistan’s economy, since the ferrous metallurgy in the country is poorly developed.

The new enterprise will produce 500 thousand tons of zinc and polymer coated metal sheets per year. The demand for these products is provided mainly by imports.

The plant will make a significant contribution to the import substitution and increasing the level of localization in the country. The enterprise is expected to export products worth $90 million a year. The complex will employ about 700 people. 5,000 new jobs will be created together with related industries.

Construction of the plant began in February 2017. $420 million was spent on its construction.

After the opening ceremony, the President will get acquainted with the production process at the enterprise.
