From the very first hours following the announcement of presidential election outcomes in Uzbekistan, congratulations addressed to President-Elect Shavkat Mirziyoyev flew from leaders of friendly nations and chiefs of international organizations.

“The convincing victory in the elections testifies to the high credibility among fellow citizens and the widespread recognition of merits in tackling pressing issues in the socio-economic development of the country,” these words opened the congratulatory cable from Russia’s President Vladimir Putin. He expressed confidence that the joint efforts will facilitate the consolidation of the bilateral strategic partnership and alliance relations, and enhancement of constructive cooperation in regional and international affairs.

The head of Russian state noted that he would take the opportunity to invite the Uzbek leader to visit Russia at a time convenient for the latter.

The leader of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, wished Shavkat Mirziyoyev every success in the highly responsible post. During the telephone conversation, the heads of our two states paid special attention to the fruitful cooperation between economic entities as much as to the intensively enlarging relations among territorial units of the two countries. The two statesmen agreed to continue close interaction across all aspects of the extensive bilateral agenda.

Shared interest in the practical realization of topical tasks in the political, economic, trade, transport and communication, cultural and humanitarian spheres has been expressed by the leaders of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

Extending his sincere greetings to Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Emomali Rahmon confirmed willingness to support contacts between governmental and social organizations as well as corporate entities with a purpose to reach tangible solutions in the implementation of mutually advantageous projects.

Secretary General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon congratulated Shavkat Mirziyoyev on his election as President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and urged all political forces to work together to ensure steady advancement of the country following the elections.

UN chief assured the people of Uzbekistan’s continued support of the organization, including in the face of the head of the UN Special Representative Petko Draganov and employees of the organization working in the country.
