President congratulates the people of Uzbekistan on Qurban Hayit

Shavkat Mirziyoyev has congratulated the entire Muslim Ummah of the country and all the people on the holy holiday Qurban Hayit (Eid al-Adha).

“On behalf of the people of Uzbekistan, I sincerely congratulate the entire Muslim Ummah of the world, our foreign friends and partners, who are gladly welcoming this sacred holiday”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted.

This year it takes place on the eve of a glorious historical date – the 30th anniversary of the independence of Uzbekistan, which gives it even greater spiritual power and significance.

The President noted that the desire to live in peace and harmony, to work conscientiously in an independent country for the sake of great goals is completely in tune with the humanistic essence of our sacred religion.

“Thanks to the selfless work of our people, a large-scale activity has been carried out in recent years to revive and develop our sacred religion, national spiritual values as in all other spheres.

At the new stage of the country’s development, much attention is paid to the in-depth study of the rich scientific heritage of great thinkers, the worthy continuation of traditions imbued with the noble ideas of our religion.

The Organization of the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan, the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, the international research centers of Imam Bukhari, Imam Termezi, Imam Moturidi, the Mir Arab Madrasah, the creation of schools of Hadith, Kalam, Fiqh and Sufism, the construction and restoration of dozens of new mosques and places of worship – all this indicates the scale of work in this direction.

In Uzbekistan, along with the legal rights and freedoms of citizens, their needs in the religious sphere are also fully met. In this regard, it should be noted that the Law “On Freedom of Conscience and Religious Organizations” was recently adopted in a new version.

In the current difficult time of the pandemic, the proposal of the scholars to perform religious rites by our fellow citizens at home is certainly the most correct decision aimed at preserving the life and health of people, the President said.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev once again sincerely congratulated people of the Muslim countries of the near and far abroad on Qurban Hayit, wished them health, happiness, peace and prosperity.
